Cooking with Klara: Painted Fruit

Dipping your foods is fun, but do you know what is even better? Painting them! Why not put a twist on your favorite fruit dips by letting the kiddos paint the dip onto the fruit? They’ll have way more fun and we all know that kids are much more likely to eat something they created with their own hands (unless it is just too pretty….).

Below I will give you some ideas on how to make easy and fun fruit dip out of everyday household items. Your fruit dip doesn’t need to be gourmet, so why not ask for some ideas from the kids? Really, anything can go into these dips…the more exotic the better :)

Orange Vanilla Dip

  • Greek yogurt (Chobani recommended)
  • Orange juice
  • Vanilla extract
  • Confectioners sugar

Just let the little ones add the orange juice, vanilla extract, and sugar (not too much sugar though!) until it tastes to their liking. We went the easy way with using orange juice, but if you have oranges lying around the house, use those instead!

Strawberry Banana Dip

  • Greek yogurt (Chobani recommended)
  • Strawberries
  • Bananas
  • Confectioners sugar

Place the strawberries and bananas in a blender and blend until smooth. Then let the little ones add the mixture to the yogurt with some sugar and paint away :)

Lemon Dip

  • Greek yogurt (Chobani recommended)
  • Lemon juice
  • Confectioners sugar

Just let the little ones add all the ingredients together. You’ll want a bit more sugar on this one than the other ones due to the bitterness of the lemon though.

Chocolate Orange Dip

  • Greek yogurt (Chobani recommended)
  • Orange juice
  • Chocolate

Once again, just mix the ingredients together. No need for powdered sugar on this one, as that job is covered by the chocolate. You can use whatever you have lying around the house for the chocolate in this dip. Abs and I used chocolate milk, but chocolate syrup or melted chocolate bars would work as well.

The point of these dips isnt to make an outstanding gourmet dish for a wedding – its to make something fun and easy that the kids will like. Keep that in mind when you’re making your own creations, and don’t forget your paintbrush!! :)
